I would like to know when eFibre will be available at my address?

I asked this question more than a few months ago so I figured I'll ask it again now.

I will supply all details via PM.

    Not yet Manc Red,

There are many indications that it's available but the issue is that your line is still not qualifying on the system which processes efibre orders. I have requested this to be investigated and even updated. I'm really chasing up on this regularly and really hope to have more news on this for you today.

I was speaking to someone on the live chat and they said that they could place an order for eFibre for me. They also stated that they tested my line and that it could hold 50Mb download and 15Mb upload. I didn't order it just yet.

Could you let me know if this is correct?

    Hi Manc Red

Management in sales had advised me that there was no sign of your address on the systems so I asked operations to update this.
I have not got confirmation on this yet but that is not to say that it has not already been updated. It’s safe to say that there has been significant progress with this over the past week and If Web Chat say they can place the order then I recommend you sign up with them :)

No luck. I was told that my line could get 50Mb download and 15Mb upload by Liam on live chat however I believe this is false. I rang and was told that I could only get 7Mb.  Could you confirm the upload and download speed that I am able to get?

    By PM if possible.

Apparently it's my area that can get 70Mb download and 20Mb upload. I was told that the online checker was for regular broadband? ... and that I could get up to those speeds (70Mb download and 20Mb upload) with eFibre.

I would like to know if this is correct and if not what are the actual speeds that my line can take?

I would like to get an update on when/if my address will be enabled. eFibre has been available in my area for almost a year now and there have still been no updates regarding if I will ever be able to get it.

I can provide my phone number via PM again if necessary.

The plans currenty made will run to the end of this year and new plans should be available towards the end of the year. This cannot be correct as both of the estates either side of me can receive efibre.

Also why is there no plan to bring efibre to my address when I'm 300 meters from an efibre cabinet? I'm well within the area for efibre and all of my surrounding neighbours can get it. About 4 weeks ago I was being offered efibre and the line checker said that it was available at my address.

So I have to wait 9 months just so I can be told efibre wont be available at my address again? Sorry this doesn't make any sense. If it's a problem with my line then what do I have to do to get it fixed?

Hi Manc I had a tech out fixing a fault the other week I asked about e fibre and was given a laugh as an answer apparantly fibre will not be coming down my street im 500 metres from a cabinet. he told me that the cabinet can only hold so many connections maybe this was his line but Im not happy to pay eircom 50 euro a month for rubbish broadband. Id be better off with my phone you should see the state of the cabes here joints every few metres. I find it hard to believe that east european countries offer 100 mbit broadband for ten euros a month but in this country we cant even get near ten without half the street crashing.

Can you imagine if the esb said sorry your line can only support 160 volts!!!

here is a line from the consumer association

Generally, you have the right to expect that: The service you ordered is provided with proper care and attention
The business providing it has the appropriate skills to do the job
Any materials they use in the work are sound and fit for their purpose
Any goods they supply to you as part of the service should be of acceptable quality too

These are your basic rights and they can only be excluded in a consumer transaction when it is fair and reasonable to do so, and only if the exclusion is brought to your attention. - See more at: http://www.consumerhelp.ie/services-contracts#sthash.JfCE3EbR.dpuf

so far as I can make out Eircom can not provide a service fit for purpose.

    HI Manc Red

I can confirm efibre is not available to you and there are no plans to bring it to your specific area. I have also PM's you in relation to your area.

    Thanks
    Al

What can I do now then?

I'm stuck with 8Mb broadband for the foreseeable future while my next door neighbour less than 10 meters away can get speeds of 70Mb?

What happened to the promise of high speed broadband by 2015?

No reply to my last post?

I would like to know the reason why I cannot get eFibre - is it because of distance or because I'm directly connected at the exchange?

If it's due to distance then I will never be able to get eFibre. There is still no way to move to a closer cabinet?

Also why are there "no plans to bring it to your specific area" when my next door neighbor 10 meters away can get it? There is a cabinet less than 350 meters away from me via the roads. It doesn't make any sense that "there are no plans to bring it to your specific area". It's already in my area. If I can't get it now, then that means I will never get it.

    Any response?
