Great ad, but with a lot of IWC launches recently - some nice, some not so nice!! don't like bronze - don't like rubberised coating.

A couple of really nice ones though - doubt most will ever get anywhere near the sea mind you - assume IWC have increased their prices again for these.

I have a major problem with the marketing department of IWC wrt these particular watches - for some reason they have Ronan Keeting and his mot all over the papers advertising them. That's really low rent compared to what I would expect of a serious watch company. While they have adopted some zeleb type branding (e.g. with the Laureus sport foundation watches or as part of their AMG connection), this is really scraping the bottom of a very deep (or shallow?) barrel.

I have a Big Pilot and Portuguese Auto Chrono which I might be forced to throw away if they keep this up.....

I think they may be aiming at a certain European market, the Monaco, or wannabee Monoca set. The types that show up to various lame festivals in said principality. EG their annual "music" award show full to the brim with hasbeens, people "big in Germany", people you've never heard of and vanishingly few actual star turns. I suspect Keating and the like would be someone that demographic would likely know.

PLus it's my impression that watch star sponsorship outside of TAG, Breitling and Omega is pretty low rent. They don't seem to roll out the big budgets as a general rule. Dunno why, maybe they found star cache didn't translate into sales so much and print ads do?

True enough B. To be fair to Ronan, he is a watch nut of long standing.

Wouldn't be a fan of the IWC aqua range and these don't change my mind. I've also never understood the need for a chrono on a divers watch. The dial should be as simple as possible.
