Stay with SKY tv or move to UPC

I currently have the very expensive combination of Sky Tv and UPC broadband. I have been reluctant to move from sky because I find the HD box excellent. Is it time to move my TV to UPC or is the horizon box just not up to scratch?

Having access to both I'd say stick with Sky....UPC tv is just horrible in my opinion, from useless menus to an annoying green hue over everything....switching between both is akin to opening and closing the curtains on a bright day

Green hue? Never see that on horizon.

Whatever you do DO NOT depend entirely on UPC, I've been overcharged by over a hundred and trying to get through to have it refunded is a nightmare!

To be fair don't have Horizon or even an HD box....just the little silver pace box, but the difference between that and Sky is like night and day

I'm at a stage now where I have been with UPC for years solely down to them being cheaper than SKY. I know UPC broadband is faster but I don't need that and have always been on their lowest speed broadband package.

Comparing my UPC package to SKY now I am only looking at an extra €8 per month to switch. I just cannot bring myself to get a Horizon box and face all those problems people are experiencing, its just not worth it when SKY can offer me the same now.

Waiting to get the price increase letter and then I'll be moving to SKY and freeview boxes.

Upc is much cheaper in general and especially if you need multiroom with 2 pvr capability hd boxes. From Sky you must purchase one for €200 Otherwise you will get only one with recording the other without. You dont need to purchase boxes from Upc, you just trent them. I dont really get Sky idea that you own the boxes , why would you want to own them ? If your contract expire they wont work anyway...

All this Sky Vs Horizon is nonsense Horizon has been out a couple of months Sky HD boxes are around 5+ years I'm sure if you asked the earlier users of sky HD boxes that they experienced similar type problems. Give horizon some time I'm sure it will only get better.

Its a different situation, when SKY released their sky+ box it was new and you had no other choice if you wanted those features. As it stands I can pay pretty much the same amount for either a service that works or another that is filled with problems. As moonship pointed out that yes if you are getting alot of services it is dearer with SKY but I'm lucky and don't need all that.

Yes they could iron out the problems eventually (although I cannot see how they are going to improve the wifi when its just the wrong hardware to start with) but if they do get it all sorted then I'll assess the situation in 12months when I can avail of the new customer offers again.

At the moment I have too much going on to be trying to fix problems that shouldn't be there to start with, especially when I'm paying so much.

I like the TV (in that I'm used to the drawbacks).

I find that SKY is just far, far, far more channels I'll never watch. The UI isn't that great really.

RED button and possibility of BBC regions to see Rabo rugby is tempting (but on Freeview anyway).
