Wheels sticking out from wheel wells.

    Hi all,
This could probably go in the classics section, but said Id put it here. Its a bit of a weird one. Someone decided to snap all 4 wheel arches on the mini. Im going to have to take them off. The only issue is that the wheels stick out about 2 or 3 inches from the side of the car (hence the super wide arches) on all 4 corners. Can I legally drive around with that much wheel showing, or do I have to park up until I get the new arches in the post (could have to wait upto a month)?

    Thanks

It'd fail an NCT and it's a safety hazard. But I'm not actually sure if any gardaí would see an issue with it, as they don't know half the legislation anyway.

I know it's a NCT fail but I highly doubt a Garda would pull you over on it (esp. if it's a classic car).

It's probably some sort of hazard but as said I'd doubt if the garda would stop you for it. Maybe just for a "get that fixed"...
    Pics please :)

Sorry to hear of that, op. Theres nothing people hate more than seeing someone with nice things.. You should be fine to drive. And yeah, definitely pics!:D

Ive no pics to hand at the moment! Its NCT exempt too, so not worried about the NCT part. Once I know I can drive it ok, then ill be happy. I may just not drive it until the arches come in.

Is that how much they stick out?

How on earth does that go round corners?

I'd say your fine until your next NCT, probably need the wide aches then.

@biko I would say another inch passed that again at most.

Are there spacers fitted to push the wheels out if so can they be removed ?

Nope. theyre just big wheels. They are 13" miglia style tyres on deepdish alloys.
