    if my car fails nct and my current cert still has a few weeks left before it expires is it taken off me?

    It'll never be taken off you. If its completely unsafe then they'll tell you that you can't drive it home.
    If you do then they notify the gardai

    I should clarify that its the cert im talking abt not the car...Can they take the nct cert from your car?

    No its valid up until the date on the disc
