    Hi All,

My girlfriend and I are going on holiday this Summer and we are currently trying to decide on a destination.

I was thinking of Lake Bled as I have heard some good things about it (but maybe it might be too boring for a week?) or also Dubrovnik but again I am not sure how good that would be either..

If anyone has any suggestions on the above or anywhere else that would be good during the Summer then I would love to hear them .. :)

In the same boat myself, we did 3 different German cities last year but kind of want to be a little more settled this summer, maybe just visit 2 places, 4-5 days in each.

I love lake bled, it's stunning, but I don't know if I would spend a whole week there personally. It depends on what you are looking for - it would be perfect if you wanted a quiet break. You could spend a few days in Lake Bled and a few nights in Ljubljana, it's very close by bus and has loads of bars & restaurants and a bit more of a lively nightlife!

    Thanks guys,

That sounds cool 'mimihops' .. few days in Lake Bled and a few in Ljubljana ..

Basically, we want somewhere sunny with a beach and with things to do during the day and some nice restaurants/bars for the evening .. not too fussy other than that :)

Any other suggestions .. how about Dubrovnik ?

    Hi Guys,

My girlfriend and I are going on a holiday this summer but we are trying to decide where at the moment.

We are in our mid 20's and basically we would like somewhere with a beach, water park/theme park, things to do during the day and some nice restaurants for the evening ..

I was looking at Dubrovnik (Croatia), Lake Bled and Egypt but I would love to hear some suggestions from people who have actually been on a couple's holiday and where you found good ...

    Thanks guys! :)

Yeah Greece sounds good aswel and I've also been thinking about that ... what parts of Greece would you suggest?

I am not too fussy about the price if we can find a really nice place with lots to do etc

And ideally I would like to book hotels and flights all in one

any additional info you an give would be great !

Zakynthos (Zante) is great, we've been there quite a few times and even got married over there 4yrs ago.

Great beach, Great waterpark, nice little island so not too far if ya wanna see everything.

We stay in a resort called Kalamaki, great restaurants, DO NOT stay in Laganas, thats 4miles away and a full of pissed up kids and nightclubs, close enough if you wanna pop in but far enough away not to bother ya.

It's a LOT cheaper just to book the flights with Falcon and get accommodation separately, as we've done for June, taxi's from the airport are 13Euro and if ya book direct ya get safe box and aircon free

The Island is also a nesting place of loggerhead turtles, loads of them swimming around in the bay, pretty cool swimming alongside them

Oh, and it's the home of shipwreck beach http://www.virtualzakynthos.gr/virtual/navagio/

I would second this recommendation (although we did stay in Laganas as we like a crazy night when we do go out)

Dubrovnik is a great couples destination. I'm actually heading back in May again. It has great beaches for during the day and a great nightlife. There's no water or theme parks but there's loads to do. You could spend days exploring the old city and the islands.

There's loads of decent restaurants and bars to suit every taste.

They also have hotels and apartments to suit every budget.

If you need help finding a good deal, get in touch.

So I have been looking into the possibility on doing both Ljubljana and Lake Bled ... this does sound interesting but I am wondering if we might be stuck for stuff to do during the days as there does not seem to be too much on offer.

Ideally, we would like somewhere with say a water park or a theme park that we could go to, or maybe some snorkeling and things like that .. I have heard that Zante in Greece might be a good option for this but still unsure

What do you guys think?? ..

Thanks a million guys for the suggestions, really appreciate it!

So what I have gathered so far is that:

    - Lake Bled is good but not that much to do if we are spending a week there
    - Dubrovnik is very good with beaches and stuff like snorkeling and islands to visit during the day
    - Zante is excellent with a water park and loads to do and also a great buzz about the place (a little more lively than say Lake Bled).

So would you say Zante is the best of the above for a couple during the Summer? Or are there any other suggestions of places that may suit better than the above? ...

Here's a post i made from 2yrs ago or so, ignore the prices, they may be the same and some of the travel companies are no longer here but you get the gist of it

I've just copied and pasted my reply to another person askin about Greece a week ago, Zante is an awesome family island (BUT NOT THE RESORT OF LAGANAS)

This is the exact same reply i gave to somebody else asking for Greece advice

We got married in Zakynthos last sept and are going back in Sept, it's an awesome place.

Only problem is since Budget travel went tits up there's only 1 flight a week goin to the island.

With Sunworld it was 499 return, or a single (just going out) was 150.

We booked the single, and are returning with Easyjet to gatwick, hotel the night at gatwick, then aer lingus back the following day, all in all around 320 return each, incl hotel in gatwick.

Here's a few pics of the Island that i took last year, the water really is that blue!!

A great thing about Zante is that it's a nesting place of the loggerhead turtles, 2 years ago i was snorkelling in the bay and a turtle was 15ft away from me, that was awesome

Another good point about Zante is that Kefalonia is the next island, it's a 45 min ferry away, or a 10 min plane ride, ya could shoot across for 3/4 days like we're planning in sept.

If you're interested i can give you the details of the studios i use, they're the best i've ever been to, a family run place with an awesome restaurant attached to it

We spent a day snorkelling here at pic below

This boat is on the trip to the blue caves, it pulls up and lets ya swim for 45 mins or so, the snorkelling is deadly :D:D

If ya want any advice just ask, we stay at an awesome Self Catering place in Kalamaki, he charges 250 per room per week, and that includes air con, transfers & safe deposit box.

Here's the link for the hotel.
