Do you price jobs or do ye do day rates.I always use day rates as I think once you keep a eye on them they cant wrong you and theres always little changes to be made as you go along and work tends to be done better when its on dayrate.also I have seen this from the other side and when you are pricing you always have to allow contingency and its very easy to sort out the fella thats trying to screw you.

hourly rates or quantity rates, its the fairest for bolt sides. I would have a fair idea what the job would cost anyway. Fair days work for a fair days pay. If someone takes the mick, then its the last time working here. If someone is expensive they have to justify their reasons why with there work

dont like day rates as dont have the time to sit on their ass to make sure they are flat out

agree a fair overall price for work and let them at it, its up to them to cost the job properly, but you need to be clear in job description. if there is a fair extra then pay it.

but get a reputable contractor that you can trust. I had a guy doing work for me last year with plant machinery about 15miles away. He was expensive but he had serious machine power to get the work done in a short window. I didnt call more that 5 times in a couple of weeks. The lads were starting before 7am and working till 7pm and doing a half day Sunday:eek:. All done on an hourly rate,as the job changed many times from what we set out to do

Dont like paying professionals hourly rates!! some spotty college boy/girl does all the work with lard ass boss sign his name for hundred of quid:D. Hows your hot German intern getting on hugo?:D:D

I seldom do day rate , price everything .
Usually I would only ask someone that I know will leave everything 100% and not worry if they are a little bit dearer than the next lad ( sometimes the good lads are cheaper too )

We need a seperate thread with pictures of hugos german intern :D

I don't mind how a lad charges once I know and trust him. In country areas it is easy to check out lads in advance. My experience is good lads are neither the dearest or cheapest. I do my research though before jobs. Buyer beware.
