Have you ever witnessed a computer (in Ireland) with an American date format? mm/dd/yy

I came across one recenty in an office in Dun Laoghaire. I was paying them a visit on behalf of my wife, and they asked for a date for her next appointment, I then notriced that the PC had the date 'the wrong way round'

Surely this impacts on appointment dates, communicating with other computers and emails, etc etc?

You can have any date presentation you want, just change the country settings. It has no effect on the storage of the date and so no effect on emails etc.

Probably some lazy IT guy kept pressing next when installing and never changed the regional settings. I'd imagine the keyboard symbols are not where their supposed to be either.

Yeah, but if we then get a letter in the post with a date 06/07/14 do they mean the 6th day of the 7th (month), or do they mean the 7th day of the 6th (month), if you see what I mean.

    Just change the date settings

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

So they input the date in American format, and yet it prints out the appointment letter in UK/Irish date format?
