    Hi!
If there is somebody who could help with some info!?!
On 23th december we bouth a car without road tax. We fill our part in log book and gave back to current owner, she sad that she will send that log book to (where supposed to send). Now on 20th of january we still didnt get our log book. We call to some place and they sad that nobody didnt send to them anything,,,,so
Now we are without log book, any contacts of previous owner and cant use our car, because of the missing road tax (heard that Garda can take off car, if you drive without).
Does anybody know what should we do now???
And how long it would take to manage?
    Please!!!!!!!!!!

Would you not have their number in your dialled numbers in your phone, or an email reply from the ad? You didn't collect it at their house? Any old nct report with name?

You can check if the ownership changes, here:
    https://www.motortax.ie/PSE/start.do;jsessionid=0aa0114830d8ba8e5a1528884ec28c3ba37cee4e83df.e38PaNaSbhuOay0LbNqRe0?page=welcome

    Here is the procedure

New owner writes to Department of Transport,Shannon,Co.Clare (Change of Ownership Scetion),detailing particulars of the acquired vehicle & reason for inability to submit Vehicle Registration Certificate(VRC).

Statutory Declaration will issue to new owner for completion.

Current registered owner on National Vehicle Driver File will be corresponded with and be given 14 days to respond.

Assuming there is no continuing interest from the previous owner, a duplicate copy of the VRC is generated and sent to to the motor tax office appropriate to the new owner's address.

The new owner will be advised to appear personally at the local Motor Tax Office to endorse the copy VRC with their signature and to present a current driving licence as identification.A fee of €12 for the duplicate VRC will apply.

    Call the department of transport.
Explain your situation and ask for the form that you get a commissioner of oaths to sign.
Fill that out and send it back.

    Worked for me

Went to motor tax office, took A1 form (as i remember), filled it and went to solicitor. He signed and stamped form. Sent form to Shannon... All i can do now is wait. Thank you for your replies

Don`t forget that the deal went through on Xmas, if the owner posted it the following days it might just got stuck/lost?

I already send A1 form, so if it was stuck or lost its to late! Thank everybody for replies, hope it will work for me

As part of that process Shannon will send notification to the current registered owner to see if they dispute the change of ownership. If they hear nothing after something like 45 days I think, then they will issue the new VRC to you.
