We all hear about the big ones, but this one really got me. So simple it could happen. Often work levers in the back window

That one for me. I haven't met the man but I've been in the same room a few times trying to place him, the face, the accent, I know you but who are ya? Then I was at home one day and there he was on the TV and it hit me.

They're a harrowing series of videos.

It's the little things. You couldn't be careful enough.

Before the "we all did it " stories come in.
The use iofthe words children and machinery in the same sentence should tell you that it's not on.
We can all make mistakes but surely the lisence age should be used as a minimum standard. ??

I visit one farm where a 10 year old is speeding round on a quad with no helmet. He's regularly loading bales onto trailers and shunting them about. Saw him stand under a loader with bale on so he could pull if loose plastic. This farm had a "freak" accident some time ago where a 12 year old was killed.
Children might get on well with machinery, but they are inexperienced and completly unable to determine the risk involved in many situations.

This is never going to end well as you'll just have the "we all did it" or my young lad was a better driver than etc. etc. ad infinitum

It's an accident waiting to happen to have children/teenagers operating farm machinery. Sometimes the accidents are minor and no one is hurt so is laughed off after the shouting. There should be a minimum age for these things but it would be a difficult one to police on farms and introducing another quango to police this won't help anyone.

Definately should be 18 + tested for those taking machinery on public roads, to have a child not legally permitted to drive a car weighing 1 ton but drive a machine weighing a few ton + what ever its hauling is a farce.
