professional way to tell the boss your pregnant

    hey guys found out today im pregnant (woohoo :) a shock but happy) anyway doc reckons by my bloods im 4-5weeks but id think im longer maybe 10weeks anyway all will be confirmed next week when i go back to him advice been how long do i have to be gone before i tell my boss and how would i be best going about it :) thanks :o

    You don't have to tell your boss until you give notice of maternity leave. However the professional thing to do is to tell them as soon as you feel comfortable announcing the news. Of course, if your job requires any special allowances or change of duties due to your pregnancy for your own sake and that of the baby it is better that you do this sooner rather than later. I also found telling my boss took a huge weight off my mind as I suffered quite badly with morning sickness and they were good enough to make allowances for me being late occasionally which was a huge help.
