PS3 graphics/computer general chat !

The PS3 has a RSX 'Reality Synthesizer', a lot like the Nvidia 7800. Which are pretty powerful. Lets say we were pretty good with technology and hardware and that person happened to be building a computer. Now lets say there happens to be an unused ps3 lying around. So the person takes the graphics cards out of the ps3 and puts them on a compatible motherboard, Would you have a beast gaming pc (of course with all the other necessary parts) ?

Or lets say (bear with me) in theory, Windows or another operating system could be ported to the ps3, Would that work at all ?

Any other ideas leave them below.

Please note im not trying this because i know its pretty difficult and i have no experience ..... So no need to leave hate :D

The PS3 doesn't have a "graphics/video" card, it has the "Cell" processor and that is a CPU/GPU all in one.

And theres no way of seperating them ?

If you could put PS3 graphics chip onto a PC you'd have a pretty terrible PC. The 7800, has been crap old tech for a good few years now.

You can put windows on a PS3 if you try hard enough, but would you manage with a system that just about has the minimum requirements for windows XP?

My last point on this if this person had 1% of the knowledge of your average untrained call centre support technician this person wouldn't be asking these questions.

You might enjoy the book Frankenstein though, you seem really interested in combining things that could never possibly be done.

I have another point to make, I've a great example for this. Use one hand to section off 1 quarter of the palm of your other hand. Now imagine dividing that quarter of your hand into 7 hundred million pieces, have fun just picking out the graphics ones. If you do a couple a minute you might manage it in the next hundred years.

The RSX was definately a seperate chip, certainly in the original PS3 anyway.

And after all that still have something not very good :)
