    i want to import some electrical goods from the usa and want to know:
    what is an import licence?
    does it mean i dont have to pay taxes at customs etc?
    how long does it last?

    An import licence allows you to import certain goods that have restrictions on them for whatever reason. You would still be liable for any tax, vat duties etc

    Check with the Revenue if you're unsure as to whether the goods need a import licence.
