Iv had upc for several years now In places if rented. Since moving home, upc have told me it won't affect current phone lines or internet connections. That's great, but they told me if to drill the floor myself to find the connection.....has anyone else had to do this??

To be honest I had no idea even if I did or didn't have a drill. I moved home after 4 years.

The guy that came to install just walked in and said "it's under here somewhere, get a hammer & chisel or a drill and give us a call back" and left :(

    Apartment or house

Can you not just find the other end without drilling

Had to do this. Tile was covering where it came in the front door, had to chisel it out.
There was ducting coming in from outside and they couldn't run the new cable in without getting the old one out.
Alternative would have been pretty messy.

Cable won't be much use if you make sh1te of it with a drill though.

Are you working towards the inside or outside of the house?

wonder could you inject a low level radio signal on the outer shield of the coax cable going into your home from the CATV access manhole?
then just use your portable radio to locate where the strongest signal is in the house etc?

your phone will have an fm receiver for example and you might use one of those crappy car fm transmitters?

never tried it... but "in theory" it might work ;)
