Top Slicing Relief

I received a redundancy payment in early 2013 (and also got married & was in receipt of rental income for the first time in 2013).

I am hoping to apply for Top Slicing Relief but I also need to review Joint vs Single assessment (we both earn approx 45k each) and need to declare our rental income (from Feb 2013).

Query is: if I apply for Top Slicing Relief from the 2013 redundancy payment now(taxed on my own at the moment) will this have an impact if I opt for Joint assessment for 2013 and might it have an impact on rental income tax?
