305m is standard, but much longer does exist:

500m http://www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk/Shop/ShopDetail.asp?ProductID=1542 , Woodcomm also definitely have 500m reels

Take in to consideration how heavy a 1km reel of CAT6 would be and your maximum cable run being well under 305m and the 305m standard reel starts to make more sense.

305m rolls wouldn't make any sense, you'd be left with loads of very long remnants - 1km of it isn't heavy

I have got external cat5 e and 6 cable on 500mtr coils and 1km from a supplier in Dublin called Wood Comms call them woodcomm.ie

Not something I have done but having seen people doing pulls the standard would seem to be 6 boxes at once with lots of physical work involved. Pulling off six large reels would involve a considerable amount of effort or as pointed out above, specialised caddys taking up lots of space.
