Sky and Vodafone are allegedly in talks to form a partnership offering bundles comprising mobile, TV and broadband services.
The operators are said to be joining forces to take on BT, which has grown in stature since securing the rights to show Premier League football and announcing a mobile tie-up with EE.

The mobile phone giant and the satellite broadcaster have explored ways to strengthen their defences against a resurgent BT. The former telecoms monopoly is spending more than £3bn on a high-speed fibre-optic network that should reach 90% of homes by next year, and a further £2bn on sports broadcast rights.

It is understood that Sky and Vodafone have discussed striking deals on Sky’s sports and movie channels and collaborating on a high-speed broadband service. However, senior sources said it was unlikely they would build a nationwide fibre network, which would cost several billion pounds. Sky and Vodafone declined to comment.

Will this be good for consumers or just help Sky grow to become a monopoly in broadcasting and in telco's?

Considering its in the UK which has stronger competition than here to begin with its unlikely to be a huge problem.

It is unlikely Sky and Vodafone will join forces here, as Vodafone are already in bed with BT here. BT provide Vodafone with their domestic broadband.

Don't BT provide Sky's BB too?
