Can't get a straight answer

I'm in second year in college and last year I applied for the grant and got the full one. That was fine but this year it's been a nightmare dealing with SUSI. This is because I changed course. First year in my course was common to everyone and you choose your stream in second year, which was different from the one I applied for in my CAO but I was basically doing the same thing. However, I tried to be the good citizen and notified SUSI of this not wanting to break any rules.

This led to a huge saga of confusion and problems where I was told to cancel the full grant I was awarded (which seems now totally pointless) only to be awarded the half grant after reapplying. I won't talk about it any further without getting frustrated and ranting.

The stage I'm at now is that I was awarded this half grant (even though my family has far less income than the threshold) back at the start of December and haven't received any payment since. My mother rang SUSI last week and they said because it was a new application, I had to re-enter my bank account details.

I went on to the website tonight to enter the details and got a pop-up saying bank account details were already entered and can't be altered. So that's the problem I'm facing now.

The reason I'm posting this here is because we simply can't get a straight and simple answer from SUSI about anything. Everything has to be really drawn out and it's like they have no knowledge of any procedures. Even the staff in the college said they do this purposely to avoid having to pay you.

Admittedly, this was also to rant but I also wanted to know who can I go to about this? Obviously complaining to SUSI is useless. My mother has talked about going to our local TD about it but surely there's a more focused option?

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
