I am a 6th year student about to sit my leaving cert and I was wondering if I don't receive the college I want would it be possible at the end of my first year could I transfer into the second year if the college I want, with the same course? If so how hard/easy is it?

I'm sure you could, there are some criteria you must fill depending on the college (you didn't specify), but why? If you're looking into a university then they're all reputable (unless you're heading cross-country and want to be closer to home). Other than that, you're only in 6th year. Going to UCD/TCD/DCU/NUIM won't make a difference, I'm guessing those are the options you're looking into.
