hi all,if bullets are made on the same machine,in the same factory, why would a different batch number make a difference when it comes down to accuracy?for example .17hmr bullets:confused:

Lot to lot variability & Regulatory requirements of their Notified Bodies or Agencies.
Unless validated & process capability proven. One batch to another could perform massively different. This can be due to dimensional variance or any number of machine/ operator issues.
Furthermore a faulty batch can be traced to the works order it was manufactured on which gives their QA department the history of when, who & what it was made from & by.
Furthermore if ISO regulated their standards would require ID & Traceability or nothing can be shipped from their plant.

Also, factories routinely experiment with materials and loads from batch to batch. I've tested .22 ammo for competition from a machine rest a few times over the last couple of years and the difference between stuff that works and stuff that doesn't makes a big mental impact when you see it for yourself. Most stuff is alrightish, some is awful, the smallest proportion is what really sings in a given rifle.
