Trying to help a friend out. Hes after buying a car and has lost his no claims bonus after a few years out of the country.

Any ideas who might be cheap? we're after ringing about 8-10 companies and its not looking good!

Been on bikes the last few years myself so not up to date on car insurance companies.

Hes 25 and its a 1.4 corrolla if that makes much difference.

    Cheers folks.

What kinda quotes is he getting?

If there in the 2k-3k range he might be better off going to xsdirect and taking the big excess in exchange for cheaper insurance.

Try some brokers maybe. What was the problem exactly? It might not be cheap, but I doubt a 25 year old on a 1.4 Corolla will have trouble getting a quote of some description (especially as it sounds like he is not a novice driver).

If he is having real trouble then try the likes of XS Direct, who will insure him but the cover wont be worth a toss.

€1300ish is as cheap as we seem to be getting. Seems like a lot to me.

Getting quotes, they just seem crazy high.

Sounds reasonable enough with 0 ncb.

Tesco Insurance with a clubcard get 10% off.

Minimum of 25 so he might be good there. Try an online quote with madeup details now yourself.

Wife and I in same situation used 25plus.ie, seemed to be the best just from online quotes. We'll be ringing up next time though - advice here seems to be that's the only proper way to do it!

Cheers folks. Will try them all in the morning. Liberty are cheapest so far.

€1300 really isn't bad for someone with no NCB. I'm not really sure what he is expecting to pay tbh?

Back when I started driving at 24 years of age the best quote I got was €1400 from Quinn. I'm not saying it's not a ridiculous figure but €1300 is not far from expected

Anywhere between €1500 and €1200 would be right on the money for someone with no claims. You could probably get that down to €800 or so if they are willing to go Third / Fire Party only.

Ah yeah I see now if you try to go ahead with a quote they ask you to call them.

Odd that they wouldnt put that on the front page of their website...
