New car (to me) from the dealer has new tyres on it so not an issue now, but want to know for when the time comes...

    I don't want run-flats.

Old car (3 series) had 225/45/17 Falken ZE914's and I loved them - not too loud and never had any hairy moments with them.

Ideally i'd stick with same brand/type as they do them in the new size I want.

Wondering if anyone had any recommendations? My local guy was charging 125 per 225/45/17 FITTED, which was good IMHO - I would like to not to have to pay more than 140euro per tyre fitted now

You should be able to get something decent like Uniroyal in 235/45 17 for around €135 fitted and balanced.

Semperit Speed-Life are available in that size for around €120. I use 'em myself in their 225/55 incarnation.

After spending near €20k on a car + bits, part-worn tyres is one thing I won't be buying :pac:

Those prices don't include fitting. Fitting is €15 per tyre. Still a great price though!
