    Hi all,

My smoke alarm keeps on beeping/chirping, and i know it is time to replace the battery.

Only thing is, there is this 3 "clips" things holding it in place, an I have no idea how to get it off?

    Any help will be appreciated

Below is a attachment to the part in question? The part that cover the battery is not in picture, but, this thing needs to be removed to get to the battery.

    I tried pulling, pushing, twisting...

EDIT: please have a look at the back of the alarm picture, and you will see the thing holding the battery cover in place

    thanks

Whatever about the battery, can I see a date of 1999 on that alarm? If so, it's 15 years old, and it's recommended to replace them every 10 years. I also see it's a 120V 60Hz model .. are you in the US?

Hi, please ignore the date, etc, , i just found the picture on the internet, it is not my actual alarm.

The alarm on my one needs to be replaced in 2016

    Manuals are here ... https://portalgb.knowledgebase.net/display/4/kb/browse/cat.aspx?cid=93155&kb=16372&L1cid=93132&L2cid=93139&L3cid=93155&level=4&r=0.9360866&tab=browse

I don't know which model it is, but according to the manual for the one shown in your photo (FADC) you replace the battery by sliding open a cover on the front of the unit, not the back.

    Thanks Alun,

but, i will post up a picture of the bottom side if the alarm tonight

it is deffo at the back.

I can see 50% of the battery, but, i need to unclip the Power cord from the unit, to release a cover that secures the battery in place.

    (ps, link do not work)

Try http://www.kiddehelp.com/ and then click on User Manuals etc.

Looking at the picture again, I'd say give the connector a good squeeze where the two outside red squares are. It looks like there's small cutouts to the side of where the connector clips in at the sides which should allow the connector to be pushed in far enough for the clips to release. The central one looks just like a guide rather than a clip.

Loosen screw beside red light. and take off cover. Take out power supply and leave hanging. The battery can be fittrd then. Plug the power back in and replace cover.

ps you will find this alarm is connected to all alarms you have in house. I would suggest replacing all the batteries.

you pull off the wire harness there might be clip holding it,then it looks like a screw holds the battery compartment, which is missing on that photo, then cover pulls down,or lifts up if its facing as in that photo, its the small square box on the back

some of newer ones batter comes out of front
