Is this the first year with the tightened eligibility controls, or was that in place last year?

Could never understand why some clubs flew players in to "represent" them at this. Reminded me of the Simpsons tennis game, where they all ended up replaced but cheered the team they were on regardless.

Also, match point instead of game point scoring is a bit silly. Really don't understand why they're used here where board points are used in the three provincial leagues (well, Leinster and Munster anyway; think Ulster too)

I think you have to use match points when there are so few rounds. If you have 4 rounds and about 10 teams then a team that wins all its matches will win the tournament if match points are used. If you use board points, then a lucky draw can can have a big effect on the tournament.

In Belfast, they use a combination of both - the winning team gets 2 extra points (one point each for a draw).
