Holiday Apartment Pricing Error ????

My wife & I decided that we want to go away on holidays during the Summer. We had been told of a block of apartments on one of the Spanish islands that were worth considering. We visited their website & liked what we saw & booked there & then.

We then received our receipts by email.

Based on this, we booked flights to this island.

The company that manages the apartment complex have come back to say the price on the website was wrong and should have read 3 times (approx) the price. This has pushed the price way above our budget.

We have never being in this position before. We have emailed receipts showing the price that we paid. Has anyone ever had similar experience & what did you do about it?

Any advice / suggestions greatly appreciated.

    Rgds.

Similar thing happened to me a few years ago. Booked a hotel in Salou for 6 of us. Price on the Spanish version of the website was different to the English version. It was a very good price so I was unsure if it would go through.
I booked the rooms, a deposit was taken from my credit card and confirmation was sent. I booked the flights a few days later and then got a mail from the hotel saying that the price was wrong and we would have to pay double.
I wrote back pointing out that they had taken money off me and confirmed the price, so as far as I was concerned they had entered into a contract and should honour it. I read fully their terms and conditions which, essentially, pointed out that once money was taken the contract was valid. The hotel was obliged to provide the room and we were obliged to pay the amount.
I also pointed out that we had booked non refundable flights and transfers and with the original hotel price we were at the limit of our budget, so it was not an option to pay the extra price.
For about a week or so there was email exchanges and the hotel offered to throw in half board free and give pool views. I met them halfway between the prices, with the extras added in and the issue was reserved.

I didn't overly push it as I was conscious/wary that we would get noisy rooms beside the kitchens, etc. I also kept the emails polite and threw in a note about speaking to the consumers association.
