    Hi people,

Can anyone tell me why so much case law is unreported?

Is there a way to search for unreported case law thats available without being a barrister or solicitor and paying fees?

    Thanks,
    Eoin

No I hadn't. Thanks a lot for that!
So does it give all the decisions even "unreported" cases as they are known?

Because the majority of it is run of the mill and entirely uninteresting. The entire Common Law system of precedent was only saved by the Internet and online databases. The amount of law that was being generated simply could not continue to be stored in the way it was, in volumes of the Irish Reports et al. Only certain courts even produce written judgments.

If you want more reported get writing headnotes :P

Thanks for the information. If one is seeking to rely on case law in court, do you just hand in a copy of it, quote it, and explain why you feel it is relevant?

I'm not a legal professional my only experience is through mooting and sitting in cases. Seems like you describe. Of course there are various things you can rely on, ex tempore judgments, unreported judgments etc.
