    Hey folks,

I'm getting married in September. We have a bit of a tradition out our way, of the groom arriving at the wedding in his dream car. He also gets to drive her away from the church in that car!! *excited*

Well, my dream car is a Ford Capri 1.6 Laser. Is there anyone out there who has a mint Laser that they would be willing to rent for a weekend in September?

A mint Laser is a rare thing in this country, so I don't expect this to be "on the cheapo", so throw some ideas at me, if you have one, and I will entertain all!

    Thanks,
    STW.

Not to put too much of a dampner on this but its a sticky situation here as 'hire or reward' is an exclusion on most insurance policies.
Plus trying to get someone you don't know to give you a car to drive might prove difficult too.
Also my own Capri Laser is a wreck, trying to buy a good shell to build all the running gear into. But that's going off topic...,

To address the "Hire or Reward" comment, then let me clarify that I am looking to "borrow" the car in question for a weekend, in that I would drive it myself! I would transfer my insurance onto that car for the weekend, so "Hire and Reward" does not apply, because I am not looking for a "driver".

Yeah someone would be mad to give a stranger their pride and joy for the whole weekend. Maybe back and forth to the church but what happens at 4 in the morning when everyone is steamed and someone gets the great idea to go tearing around in the Capri!

BTW if your going to get a Capri for the day then get a V6 :D

If it's your dream car why don't you buy one as a wedding gift to yourself then you can drive it every day . They're not a very expensive classic to buy and run.

I'm sure nobody would let their pride and joy go without a refundable deposit to cover themselves, and could make a few bob into the bargain.

As for Car99's suggestion at buying one, without trying to funny, if I could afford to buy one, I wouldn't be asking for a borrow!!

Well I guess that means you couldn't afford to replace it if it got written off or stolen and your own insurance transferred on to it wouldn't be an agreed value policy so would only pay out few hundred euro for an old Capri. I'm not being funny either just pointing out what any Capri owner would be thinking before lending their pride an joy to someone.
