How do you guys calculate postage when selling on ebay

    Hi,

    Just wondering how you guys calculate how much it will cost to ship a parcel etc... from Ireland to any country where a customer could be buying from?

    To be more specific, I would like to know how a seller calculates how much it is going to cost to ship the item to the buyer when posting the item up for sale as he will not know at that stage where in the world the buyer is purchasing from.

    I bought a small weighing scales and look up the costs on anpost website.

    I have the scales but I was trying to calculate costs using the an Post calculator http://postage.anpost.ie/

    Basically I just weigh the item and select region 1, 2, 3 or 4. And if someone buys from lets say somewhere on the eastern seaboard of the United States it might cost me less than the estimate and if a buyer purchases the same item from the western seaboard it will cost me more than the estimate?

    I use a leaflet of prices I got from the postoffice. As far as i know all the USA is zone 4 and the charge is the same.
    If in doubt you could charge the higher estimate and if its cheaper, refund the difference by Paypal.
    I tend to slightly overcharge to foreign countries because Paypal charge the seller for getting paid in non Euro currency.
