Do you want single sex or mixed?Do you want the town itself or would you stretch say to Lisivigeen on the edge of the town. What ethos do you want? Do you want a Gaelscoil or English speaking school?

    Hi,

thanks for your reply, looking for a mixed catholic school, English speaking open to the area, also very confused to what year my son will be in at Sept 2014 he will be 7and going on 8, I spoke to two different head teachers in Killarney St Olivers and the Mercy and they both told me different things... Help!!! Was recommended a school called the Loreto in Muckross.

Any local advice would be so welcome... thank you.

If he is 7 almost 8, second class should be ok. I'm not local as such, but would know some of the schools.
http://www.lissivigeenschool.com/index.html has a "good" name. St Oliver's is a very big school with 431 boys and 322 girls.

    St Oliver's or Loreto.

Loreto is smaller class groups, more 1 on 1

St Oliver's is bigger and has a good Learning facility for those with Dyslexia etc so provides great help for those that need it.
