I've been enjoying this US (from Boston) NPR radio programme on-and-off for years.
It's a weekly phone-in show; callers ask two brothers, both experienced car mechanics, to solve their automotive problems.
But the mechanics is not the sole attraction, the car-related banter and humour is good too.

I'm posting here instead of the Radio forum 'cos I think it's appeal will be to the mechanical-minded DIYer primarily.

    Car Talk radio prog

There was a motoring program on Newstalk a while back, Motormouth I think it was called. It wasn't great, tbh.

Listened to it last and enjoyed it. That sort of thing wouldn't be my cup of tea but they are very enjoyable with they're little stories.

I've not heard Motormouth. Was it mechanics or just new model reviews?

For Car Talk I think it helps to be a fan of radio too - not just motor mechanics.
The topics can be of varying interest, as you'd expect on a phone-in show, but I really enjoy their infectious good humour - and their ability to diagnose problems from limited information is amazing at times.

I been podcasting this show for a good few years now, its good alright but they do from time to time criticize european cars, which I dont like.I tried to point out the error of their ways:p, but I dont seem to be able to email them at all. It does not work.I'd say Toms cars are a whole pile of junk:).

    Good show though.

I can't say I've detected any bias but then I'm don't think I can detect which brother is which either. Does Tom have an old MG?

Last time I on the website I learned a new term "Interference Engine". I knew the theory but not the term. Seems some owners will only buy a car with a Non-IE . Or would only buy an engine with a cam-chain not belt

If you look at the autoblog link in the comment above you'll see it says they will cease recording the show this fall.
The date on the blog is April 2012...

Well they are all new to me because I never heard them as I wouldn't have over here so doesnt really matter, but that would explain my problem in no 5 post above though.

Oh No! The end of an era. How long before I hear the same call again I wonder. Or discussion of problems with 1970s Beetles!

Well many car problems are timeless -and universal I suppose. I was thinking again recently how old some of the car described were and how high the mileage.
