    Is it normal for the company to provide you with one of those cardboard boxes for your belongings -- the kind often shown in films when someone gets the chop -- or do you have to source your own?

    Nobody can advise you on this OP.

    In my experience the Belongings Box Policy differs from company to company.

    Suggest you speak to the HR manager to clarify the Belongings Box Policy.

    No it's not common; how you bring out your private items is usually considered your problem as you brought them in to the work in the first place.
