Admin password recovery

    Hi,

Recently got a second hand dvr system, it's a 16ch model: hotm-1648. There is no manufacturer name anywhere on it, and it is Made in Korea. I opened it up and it contains a western digital 500GB hd.

I've been searching the web to try find the manufacturer but haven't had any joy.
I don't have the admin password so the system is pretty useless to me at the moment. Would anyone here have any ideas on how to get it up and running? I've ran through a list of the common passwords but haven't succeeded yet.

    All help greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

    TH

Not familiar with it. If you could post a pic it may help & also a screenshot of the menu screen.

Nothing much there to go on, who did you get this off?

I'm not so sure, I'm really at a loss with it unless I can guess the password. Am I fighting a losing battle without knowing the manufacturer?

Apologies KoolKid, I got it from eBay

Have you asked the seller what the passwords are?
There are a lot of generic machines like these around. Can you post a shot of the the menu screen.

I have but the default he suggested was 888888, I'm away from it at moment but I'll get you a shot of log in screen ASAP, pardon my ignorance KK but in what way can that help? Certain manufacturers use certain interfaces??

There are also many spurious systems using the same software with maybe slight edits.

With that 888888 also Try 444444 999999 etc.

If I am seeing it right, there's a small battery in the top left hand corner of the board. It may be the case that if the battery is removed, and the device is left with no power connected and no battery in it, the memory will be lost, so when it's powered up again, it will go back to the default code.

There's no guarantees of any sort on that, just a hope that it's similar to the way that some PC motherboards work, at the end of the day, it's a specialised computer, so not that much different.

There may also be a small 2 post connector close to the battery, which could well be the reset memory connection, but the picture that we've got here isn't clear enough to be able to make out what's on the board,

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

If you had another blank hard drive you could try swapping it in. You'd need a second opinion on this but I think the dvr system software could be stored in a ROM so as to enable easy HDD replacement.

If the system boots correctly on your blank drive you could just format the 500G WD.

I've tried the battery removal, I'm still left with the dilemma of not knowing what my default password is though, fingers fit to fall off from guesses!

I've some images of the software, apologies for the delays I was away from the machine for a few days, does the software look familiar to anyone?

Saw one manual from the far east, default admin pass is 11111111

Nothing obvious there for me I'm afraid.
I sent you a PM with a contact that might be able to help.

I doubt it. Doesn't even come close to matching the pic posted by the OP.and very little useful information there.

Was posted earlier in the thread.

I came across a Chinese one before.

The code 12888 seemed to work, no harm in giving it a try.
