3 cold radiators

I have an issue with 3 cold radiators downstairs in my house, all others are working perfectly.

I've bled most of radiators many times, so this doesnt seem to be the issue from what I can see. There is no heat in any 3 of the radiators.

When I do try and bleed them, cold water comes straight out. No air in any of the three radiators.

Could there be an airlock somewhere in the system?
Any ideas what the issue might be?

    Thanks!

Try your hotpress or around your gas boiler and look for a white box, about 4 inches long, 2-3 inches high, it'll have a switch on it marked at one end Manual and the other end Auto, pull it to the opposite side of what it is on now and theres a groove cut out, rest it into that and turn your heating back on, hopefully this will help, works for me as I have the same problem

Thanks for the reply billie, appreciate it! Unfortunately I dont have anything that fits that description in the hot press or near the boiler. :(

Im not sure if this could be related to the issue but the system is zoned, and all three of these radiators are on a section of the same zone of the house. But the rest of this zone is working perfectly.

    Very strange...

Turn off all the other rads while the heating is on and you should be successful then. ;)

Cool, I had a problem finding the zone valves (we'll call them that as I don't know the real name) that I described to you in my house. I followed the pipe from the boiler and they were about 4ft down behind a wooden panel put up to block the piping

Heres a picture of my zone valves, the silver switch on the top of the picture usually slides to the right, the rads downstairs wont heat, if I slide it back to that position they work perfect

2 Screws hold the head onto the valve body. Take them out, and turn the small spigot in the middle of the valve by 90 degrees, then latch the head of the valve in the open position to activate the switch in the body of the valve, and see if the radiators get hot when the system is running.

If they do, then the likely scenario is that the motor in the valve head has failed, and is not opening the valve,

Replacement heads are available from most plumbers merchants. if you look around you may also be able to get a replacement for just the motor section of the valve head, depending on the make of the valve.

Not an uncommon fault, the motor is live all the time the valve is open, but not moving as such, when it switches off, it releases and the spring closes the valve.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁
