There is one of Venetia's going at Towcester who was smashed on saturday in the betting before falling early on in a class 2 handicap. They sent him off 5/2 fav for that contest in Warwick.
Was with Emma Lavelle last year and ran some creditable races without doing to much. Emma Lavelle had a year to forget last year and i wouldnt be surprised if this horse is a good bit better than his 121 rating.
Switched to Venetia for this season(who is in absolutely flying form) i think she can eek out the necessary improvement needed for this horse to show his true colours.
Obviously not a handicap tomorrow and will have to cope with the penalized Knockonrawley as well as a couple of other interesting challengers in Sybarite and Kris Spin. But i think it is quite interesting that they have turned him out so quickly (he must be in flying form at home and i suspect they will be eying some handicap at the festival which he will need to improve on the 121 to get into most of them.
Paddy Power have launched him in at 9/4 fav which i think is fair considering the way the money was down on monday in a far more competitive event.
I have taken some of the 9/4 and might have another pop if some others open up bigger.

**haha didnt mention the horses name**
He is Tidal Dance and goes in the 3.10

Aidan Coleman does a piece in The Irish Field every weekend called Coleman's Corner. Usually good for a winner or two each week. He mentioned Tidal Dance this week saying..

"We fancied Tidal Dance to win at Warwick. His early exit was a big disappointment, but he seems none the worst for his fall and I hope he can make amends in the three mile novices' hurdle at Towcester tomorrow."

Ya i stuck him in the notebook on saturday evening when i watched the replay. Couldnt believe he went off at 5/2 tbh.

Anyone think Torphichen is a big price at 16s in the 2.20 at Fairyhouse. 3rd behind Maarito and Roi de Mee after a long layoff(14 months) and down 2 pounds. Beat Mossey Joe in his last chase before his layoff on heavy ground so conditions shouldn't be a problem.

Although I am loath to back fillies/mares, Gitane Du Berlais is catching my eye tomorrow in the gd3 hurdle at fairyhouse. She will handle the conditions/trip & is getting lumps of weight from the others. Her first run was disappointing in down royal, but it was only her first on irish soil & she slammed a couple of decent sorts on her raid to aintree lto.

RAY OF JOY in the 3:30 at Kempton (16/1)

Been looking at this horse tonight, but her price seems to be huge.

Firstly, I'm going to strike through her last run at Southwell on the assumption that she didn't like the fibresand.

Once you get passed that and look at her run at Kempton back in December, she manages to snatch 3rd away from Bajan Bear and Rigolleto who she runs against (again) tomorrow, however these two are are currently priced at 4/1 and 11/2 respectively.

The first time visors seemed to spark her into a decent run, and she runs in them again tomorrow.

She's backed at Kempton where most of her runs have been, and her mark remains on 67.

I'm going to take a punt on this one :)

Going to go for Knockanrawley myself. During the whole hubbub of the McCoy4000 thing - if you listen to the interviews, he himself was at pains to say that the second place horse (Knockanrawley) was going somewhere.

Looks like Mullins will dominate the mares division for the next few yrs, along with everything else

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53 ✭✭MadHorse

    I've gone for a longshot f/c
Dick Dundee - Significantly lower mark over hurdles compared to chase mark
Shesonlyahorse - 66/1 but form of race against byerley babe isn’t that bad (Grade 2 winner since), she won in January last year off a higher mark, won at the trip and if off may be placed

Like the look of Prunella Dobbs horse Windsor Queen (4/1) in the next with Cooper on board and also Top Offer (11/2) in the 2-00 at Kempton that I know Urban had his eye on before his last run where he broke very slowly before staying on nicely into 4th. He's been dropped another 1lb for that and looks to be on a handy mark now.

    2 singles & a double for me

I like the look of a few today.

3.20 Fairyhouse Lisrose 7/1 represents the first runner under Rules for trainer Alice Curran and making her handicap debut over fences off a mark of 102 I think she has a cracking chance. Formerly with Henry De Bromhead, this 9 year old mare showed some decent form in Novice Chases and comes here on the back of scoring for Curran in a pretty decent looking open P2P at Dromahane in December on what was her first start for her trainer and hopefully she can translate that form under Rules. Andrew McNamara takes the ride and at 7/1 I think she looks a great price.

3.30 Kempton Avonmore Star 7/1 represents my favourite trainer in Mike Murphy and after finding himself woefully out of form of late Avonmore Star put in a much better effort on his last start of this career low mark when 3rd behind a couple of 3 year olds over 6f at Lingfield in a race that has worked out well. With eye-shields helping him to have settled, if building on that last effort I think he has a brilliant chance of landing this today off 62 given that he was beaten a couple of necks off a 10lb higher mark 11 months ago.

3.50 Fairyhouse On Impulse 9/1 is a very interesting debutant for the excellent Harry Kelly and with this 5 year old sure to be race fit given the connections he hails from I think he's definitely worth backing. This 5 year old son of Flemensfirth is the first foal of Sugar Island who is an unraced half sister to the brilliant Sizing Europe and there is certainly a lot to like about his pedigree. The excellent Pa King's 7lb claim is invaluable in a contest like this and with Harry Kelly no stranger to Bumper winners I think 9/1 looks a very big price at present.

    Ctappers 8-1 EW 2.30 Kempton
Shorter trip at this level should improve his chances.

    Grand Jesture 2-1 2.50 Fairyhouse
Came up against useful sorts, today is his day hopefully

    Disaster.

Sweated up badly, raced keen on the wide outside, jumped poorly.

rummaging must have a good chance in the 4.0 and 5s looks
    a very good price
value for a lot more when winning last time out and travels so
    strongly in his races
hoof it awful short at 11/8, surely a good lay at the price for
    a competitive race

Only paid just over 7/4 after deductions but still not to bad.

I'd be interested to know if they have him entered to run under a penalty or will they just wait until march.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,564 ✭✭✭kiers47

Entered in a 2&1/2m novice event on Tuesday at Leicester. And in a 3m handicap in Warwick on Thursday. I don't think the drop back to 2 and a half would be a hinderence but 2 days might be a bit to soon.
We shall see anyway if he takes his chance in either.
