So can I get a micro usb to cat5 cable/adapter and use the data on the phone through the cable into the device?

Phone is rooted and its a Note 2.

Also you could download Foxfi and see if that works. Wireless is a lot handier.

Try Wi-Fi again and this time don't use a password. You should also be able to usb tether, there are even apps on the play store to make it easier.

Like I said, try setup the wireless hotspot without a password may fix it. You will also be able to usb tether with a micro usb to usb cable. Doubt very much a micro usb to ethernet adapter cable exists but why bother when usb will work and you most likely have the cable already

Edit, do you want to tether to a device with micro usb? Is this what you want? http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00AKXE59E

    I apologize , maybe I didn't make myself clear.
The device that I'm trying to get internet on doesn't have WiFi and all it has is a Ethernet port.

I want to turn on the usb tethering and use a micro usb to Ethernet cable/adapter.
Can this be done, and if so where can I buy the cable or adapter?

This was clear to me from your original post. Further clarification shouldn't have been necessary. May I ask what is the device you are trying to connect?

Im not sure a micro USB to Ethernet adapter is doable. Maybe a better solution would be to get an ethernet to wireless bridge like the WET11 and connect it to your Ethernet only device and have it connect to your wifi router.

Ok I googled that and seems like that's what I want.
It's a set top box that I want to connect to the internet

By chance can you recommend any wet11 ?
