Very disturbing story emerging from Sao Paulo Brazil.

16 year old Kaique Batista dos Santos had attended a party at a gay nightclub on Saturday January 11th. During the party he told his friends that he had lost his wallet and phone. The group split up to find them, that was the last time he was seen alive.

His body was discovered at 5am by Police. All of his teeth had been pulled out with a pliers, he had been beaten with an iron bar and he was repeatedly kicked in the head. His sister believes he was attacked by one of the many skinhead groups that plague the city. Police are treating his death a suicide as his body was found on waste ground under a bridge however his sister believes he was thrown from the bridge after being tortured and beaten. They have not ruled out upgrading it to a murder investigation pending collection of more evidence. His body was discovered Saturday morning but without a wallet or ID card he was not identified and his family notified until Monday.

I don't know what to say, I was actually speechless after reading the articles. How anyone can torture and murder a 16 year old like that is beyond my understanding. It's incredulous. I hope they are found, quickly. Sick bastards.

Sao Paulo is notorious for homophobic violence and there have been a number of marches against it in recent years. The metro is particularly dangerous.

Guys if you're opely gay and lucky enough to be heading to the World Cup in June take your personal safety very seriously while you're there.

That's absolutely horrible, the details of what they did to him are sick. I seriously hope the people who did this are found and made pay.

There have been developments on this in the last 24 hours.

The violence and cruelty of this crime has horrified Brazilians and in particular the residents of Sao Paulo. The government has gotten involved in this case. Yesterday (Friday 17th) the Brazilian SDH (Secretaria de Direitos Humanos da Presidência da República) - the Minister for the Human Rights, Childrens Rights and Rights of the disabled - Maria do Rosário Nunes (born in Sao Paulo) has appointed special prosecutor and LGBT rights activist Gustavo Bernardes to investigate all of the police evidence with a view to building a criminal case.

There's a general consensus that the suicide theory adopted by the police just does not hold water.
Translated: The Civil Police states that apparent signs of torture may be a result of the fall of the viaduct . Drilling in the leg would have been caused by an open fracture . The teeth and broken fingers , besides the head trauma may have occurred in the fall . Preliminary analysis shows that he landed on his feet and hit the curb. The final award of the Medical-Legal Institute ( IML ) should be ready in 20 days.

I really hope they catch these guys now that there's proper weight being put behind this case.

It's horrfiying that they can even suggest suicide as a cause of death. Demonstrates how little intention they have of catching a group that killed a poor fellow just because he was gay.
