He claims that human beings share the traits of both the free love non-violent bonobos and the aggressive warlike chimps.
He claims that modern contraceptives which have broken the link between reproduction and sex and the economic organisation of our society points to Western sexual morality being the product of a cultural change in human society 10,000 years ago when humanity changed from a hunter gatherer society to a rigid patriarchal agrarian society and sexuality, paternity and property become inextricably linked.
