Fitting a pre-hung door

    Any help would be appreciated!

I am going to fit a pre-hung doors in the house. My issue is how to fix the frame to the wall. There will be a gap of about 10mm on each side.

Do I just use a piece of timber to wedge it in and screw the frame to the wall through that?

    Thanks.

You sure do cut a packer 10mm and slide it in and after the door is up fit your architrave and you will see no packer .

I was 99% sure I was right but needed reassurance!

If it was my own house I would put a dab of construction adhesive on the packer/ gap before driving it in, otherwise packer can shrink in time (or if it splits when driving frame-fixing through) and work loose, possibly leading to a slightly loose frame/ lining on the hinge side.

To add to the previous good advice.
When the frame is fitted and fixed home, before fitting architrave, using the the proper application gun(and foam), i will always to run a bead of expanding foam around the door, imo it makes for a really solid job.

I would also, before fixing, check the head of the door for level, if there is more than a few milimeters you may have to adjust either of the door jams and bottom of door to keep the margins nice and neat.
