Went to change my cleats tonight. Looks like the thread has worn out. Not sure how to take the screw out. Are the shoes fit for the bin now?

Is it simply that you cannot remove the screws because of the wear where the allen key goes? I've had this problem in the past and taken a hacksaw to the screw (having to cut through the cleat as well) to cut a groove into it allowing me to then remove the screw with a screwdriver

You can get screw extractors in good hardware stores that will get you out of trouble. Then buy a similar bolt. Here's one in halfords but you may have to drill a pilot hole for the extractor if it cant get a good grip with the existing hole http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_216735_langId_-1_categoryId_165572#tab3

Yeah the hole for the Allen key has worn such that it can't get any purchase to move.

Not sure if I have a have a hack saw so will try the screw extractor first

I had to drill the top off the screws, remove the cleat and then remove the old screws with a vice grips on my last pair of shoes.

That is more thank likely what I'll do. The screw extractor is just a fancy way of doing that

If an Allen head is worn in a bolt sometimes you can get enough purchase by using a hammer to 'encourage' a torx bit slightly bigger that the Allen fitting in and turning. Has worked for me in the past.

I have no idea how I overlooked this. And I only did it a few days ago. The desire for more tools is never ending :(
