    Hello All

I'm looking for a really good life/career coach.

Has anyone here been to one? And could you recommend someone?

    Thanks!

There is a issue with using such people. Many do not have qualifications in either or both. It is a little like homeopathy when considering a "Life Coach". Realistically you would want them to have a counselling qualification.

With the career coach you would want somebody with a lot of knowledge on all professions. Not many people have this so again you got to wonder how useful this would be.

In saying that it depends on the trust levels you have with this person. I have met some in the past and they instilled no confidence in me that they know what they are talking about.

I went to a career guidance counselor last year and found her really helpful.

She had a lot of experience in recruitment, and an MSc in guidance and counseling from TCD. She was very practical and helped me focus on what I really wanted to do, and how to go about it.

She doesnt do 'life' coaching but I can PM you her details if you wish.

    Hi Seablue,

I'd be interested also if you wouldn't mind sending me on the details.

    Thanks.

I have no affiliation to this company, I just know someone that used them and found it very worthwhile. Paul Mullen was the person they dealt with.

They can be charlatans often with no qualifications.

I think you might find it better to read some books on career and personal development along with asking friends and family to give you a good appraisal on where they think your skills and strengths lie. You might be surprised by what you learn from such a process.
