    For deer or your license?

For a firearm license I don't think theirs any minimum more the better. You need "good reason" to own a firearm aka vermin control or target or game, if it's vermin controll a farmer of any kind tillage, dairy or beef will do, for game a gun club and for targets a range. If you don't renew membership your "good reson" is gone so be careful. All three can be done with the firearm once you have it.
For deer it's a little more complecated it goes on what numbers are on the land and how many is shooting them.

Welcome lad. What do you plan on getting?

Only thing is to knock on a few doors.
Worst they can say is know. Main thing is to show the farmer you have insurance should anything happen.
Seems to be a landowners main concern now and rightfully so.
But be as nice as possible and mention insurance and you could do well.

Put up a wanted ad in the forsale/wanted section stating what rifle you want and your area, that place is the land of broken dreams and impulse buying.
Knocking on doors is your best bet, tell them your after rats and anything in barns like pigeons ect you should have no bother.
