Where do the shops get their phones from?? does anyone know.

A new phone is on the cards for me and was thinking why pay meteor or vodafone an extra 100 quid if they are going for cheaper in these chinese run stores.

    Are the phones brand new??

They are all used, and most of them I would wager weren't given to the store with their owner's consent....

The phrase "pig in a bag" comes to mind.

I've never heard of that saying before so I haven't a clue what you mean lol.

One thing I know is people sell there phones to them, but some of them are practically brand new. I understand that some dodgy dealing are bound to go on in these places too

THERE,S plenty of good value ,phones
    in meteor ,3 ,vodaphone shops.
if the phone is in the box, with manual and charger ,
i ,d take it as new ,hold onto the receipt ,
if its not working ok, you have 2 years gaurantee on it.
BUY a model thats say only been released on the market in the last 6 months.
ASK is this brand new ,never been used.
    THE shops in moore st,
there,s about 7 phone shops there,
i,d say about 70 per cent of the phones are used.
if i was spending more than 200 euro i,d just go to
    a 3 , meteor ,carphone warehouse ,vodafone store , .
150- 200 euro will get you a good phone in the irish phone stores.

    Look at the price ,
if the price is say 100 euro lower than the retail price in a 3 shop,
its very likely its a secondhand phone.

SOME phones have a plastic foil over the screen,
    which most people remove,
ALL new phones come with a user manual in the box,and charger
    except the iphone.

I still have the box, manual & original charger for my phone & it sure as hell ain't new, or anywhere near.

Everything with a screen comes with that protective film, btw.

Why except the iphone? The box does include a charger and some basic documentation ...

MY friend bought an iphone 4,in 2012
    theres a small book,
with basic info on it,in the box,
    3 or 4 pages long.
like how to put in a sim card,
I think there,s a user manual loaded on to the iphone
as a readable doc, or ebook. .

I,M saying if you buy a phone,
say samsung, if theres no manual ,
THEN its likely to be a preowned phone, not NEW .
theres also loads of unboxing videos,
    on youtube,
    for samsung galaxy, etc
if you wanna check what should be in the box of a NEW
    phone before you buy one.
