Gardaí injured in RTA - Limerick

    INVESTIGATIONS are underway after two gardai were hospitalised after their patrol car was involved in a road crash in County Limerick this morning.

    The 131-D registered marked patrol car was in collision with another car near the church in Kilmallock shortly before 11am.

    The male and female gardaí, who are attached to at Bruff garda station, were taken to University Hospital, Limerick following the accident.

    While serious, their injuries are understood not to be life threatening.

    The driver of the second vehicle did not require hospital treatment.

    Emergency services attended the scene for several hours and both cars were removed for a technical examination.

    Gardaí from Bruff are investigating the circumstances of the collision and are seeking independent witnesses to contact them.

    They are particularly interested in speaking with the occupants of a number of other cars that were in the vicinity at the time of the collision.
