    Holy Great Nostalgia Batman!

This is superb news as I watched this series as I was a little kid. I have watched it on ITV4 last year but to see it on the market as a legit DVD or Blu-Ray is just brilliant.

Seeing it on the market as a legit DVD is one thing. Will anyone buy it?

Massive Batman fan here, wouldn't touch that with a barge poll.

I just hate the earlier camp version of Batman, release the entire animated series on Blu Ray though, every episode, even including Batman Beyond, and you got a deal.

+1....the series hurt Adam West career badly, he was never taken seriously as an actor....often getting joke roles that took the piss out of him.

That 6-'s show should be forgotten about for all involved.

Never got into Batman Beyond, but definitely Batman:TAS, including Mask of the Phantasm, would be great. One of the few things I watched as a kid which still holds my attention for more than 20 minutes.

Yeah its a shame they only ever did the first 2 volumes of the animated series on region 2 DVD. Though apparently the discs released in the states are region free despite being labelled R1. So if you really want them, they are an import away.

While my preference is definitely the animated series, Kevin Conroy is Batman as far as I am concerned, I would be tempted to pick up the 60s show on blu ray when it gets released.

You take the concept of a man who dresses in a bat costume to fight crime way too seriously!

I love The Dark Knight whether he's in a broody Christopher Nolan movie,a campy children's tv show or as a cartoon. It's Batman! What's not to like about him?

If I ever get the chance,I'm picking this up as it's a miracle this will ever see the light of day as a home release.

    Holy Rose-tainted retro-glasses Batman!

You refer to the cartoon series as campy and then refer to the 60s one as a TV show?

Im sorry but it was mediocre at best in the 60s. Batman: TAS stands up to the test of time and in places is genuinely spooky, with some real adult themes.

The Dark Knight Trilogy is what a lot of Batman fans had been hoping for many years, those that werent happy with Tim Burtons portrayal at least.

There will never be the one true Batman, but if there were, surely, the 60s one isn't it.

I never refered to the cartoon as campy...Relax mate :D

TAS is nothing like the 66 show.I grew up with both shows as a child and they still stand together as great entertainment.

And in regards to the tv show being mediocre....I know! I mean, they had an episode where Batman was in a dinosaur costume disguised as an egg which was meant to bring dinosaurs back to life in Gotham! Not one thing about that show is in any way a reflection on what the Batman character was from the comics but it was still a larf.

    Get over yourself :p

There is a lot of negativity towards this which I'm a bit surprised about. I just want to say that I. Am. All. Over. This.

    Fair enough. Jump right in!

    I won't be jumping anywhere.

Here is the details on the box set. The release date of the box-set is for the 11th of November.

The price though is one big bombshell as it's a whopping US$269 on BLU-RAY :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: with the option of pre-ordering the same boxset on Amazon for a not less expensive US$188.

I wouldn't buy it for that price at all. I will wait until it goes down at a considerable rate before I'll buy it.

Hasn't been confirmed for the UK/Ireland market yet due to the complex rights that has stopped to show been released before it may not be released over here.

And at that price they can keep it too

I watched a few mins of a documentary on this a few years back(don't judge me but it was on E!). They were talking about how little budget they had and one episode it ran out. So they made the villain of the episode invisible and the way batman fought him was by turning off the lights and having a fight in the dark.
So the scene was literally just fighting noise and a black screen with the words "ooooph!" and "BAM!" popping up.

    Loved it!

If I'm not mistaken it's $180 for 120 episodes of tv which is the equivalent of 6 series today. Considering the expense of remastering the series it's not a bad price

About 180 euro when you add on postage and import fees

You'd be certifiably crazy to buy a Blu-Ray version of a series made in the 1960s for TV and an NTSC production at that - what are you expecting to get over and above the DVD version? The picture quality will probably be worse and with all the lurid outfits and the garish colours, you'd almost be better off watching it in black and white, let alone HD.

I agree with a few other posters, the 1960s Adam West series should be left in the memory along with Get Smart and Mr. Ed, it's not for me.

Considering that it was shot on film it'll look bloody good. The trailer looks fantastic in HD and the clean up they've done of the picture should be impressive
