"Send your spare key and we duplicate"

Erm no thanks. So you have the key of my car and my address. Try explaining that one to the Guards when you wake up to an empty driveway....

You could just get someone else to buy it and have it delivered to them if you were concerned

Honestly, I think you're being a bit paranoid. 99.4% positive on 41000+ feedback is a clear indicator of great customer satisfaction.

Where did you read that
You send them the code off your key or a photo of the laser cut blade.

I read it in their ebay shop

    HERE

For the key to work in your car, they need to copy the electronic transponder code from the chip in your key. A key code or a photo won't do, hence they need the physical key. I wouldn't send my key to anyone, that's all I'm saying!

Chances are that if you contact them you just have one key left.
If you send them the only key you have, you can't drive.

I'd just go with a local shop OP, but that's me.

Out of interest, how would you go about getting a replacement key? :)

You can (at your own risk) buy a blank key and get the metal blade cut to key code THEN go to a dealer or someone who has a current, licensed Ford computer to program the key. In my experience some of the blank keys on ebay etc, are just that i.e. dud, blank, useless and cannot be programmed to start your car.

    OR

Go to main dealer or a key dealer with a licensed Ford computer to program a new key. Simples.

Keysdirect looks cheaper and at least as safe to me.

The more I've Googled this the more you appear correct.
You can reprogram the FOB for opening the locks but need a Ford computer to program the transponder for the immobilizer.

As I understand it you buy the key cheap from Keysdirect and then have it coded locally?

I rang Autokey in the past & they quoted me €180 for a Primera.
I'd can't justify that type of gouging.

I'm not sure if he does fob keys. I think d op was just looking for a regular key nd has a separate fob. Sure give it a try anyway.
