it's been driving me crazy all day...It is as though the word never existed..I am trying to think of a premise for it's use or recall what the context was when I began reaching for it..Worse still, I am cognizant of the fact that it is not an obscure or rarely used term...I use it quite often in fact. The only clue that I think I have, is that it is an introductory preposition..eg. here he is, the prodigal son... Or at least that's what I'm thinking.. maybe the cheese is just beginning to slide off the cracker.

'Prodigal' is an adjective, not a preposition.

Methinks you could be intoxicated by the exuberance of your own verbosity.
