Gmail Sync Query on Windows Phone

Does anyone else find their Gmail sync can take ages to process using the built-in service? I previously had phone set to sync emails for last month, but often find myself wanting info older than that so set it to ALL. Now yeah I realise this might make it slightly slower, but sometimes it feels like maybe 2-3 minutes when the only change might be one new email having come in! Would love to find a fix other than switching back to sync of just one month as I wont have access to everything.

Can you just search for the email you want? It can search all folders

Yeah but the search result returns extremely fast which leads me to believe it only searches as much as you have synced with your phone. So if I have it set to one month then I can only go back that far. Unless there's a way to extend your search to older emails via online archive?

At first it only searches what is on your phone, but there's an option at the end of the results to search the server too.

Yeah I thought so and remembered it from WP7 but haven't been offered option of online search on Lumia 920. Will go try more
