    Hi

I'm wondering are there any support services for partners of depressed individuals.

I'm currently living with my partner who is depressed and I am finding it increasingly hard to cope myself - I have nobody close to talk about it with

    Thank you

I spoke with Aware by telephone some years ago when my relative was depressed and recovering from suicide attempts.

St. Patrick's Mental Health Services have a brilliant helpline run by very sympathetic nurses who will lend you an ear and some advice, such as counsellors in your area and how to proceed.
Aware also run special groups for partners and families of people who suffer with depression. It's a very difficult thing to deal with because you're constantly concerned that talking to a personal friend or relative will betray the confidence of your partner, and you can become extremely isolated. I always thought "I don't have depression, but I'm living with it every day" when my partner suffered from it. Just because they're the ones who are technically "ill" does not mean they're the only ones who need help.
There is absolutely no shame in saying "I can't cope either". Best of luck.

Hi Atozed. I don't really have any advice to offer but I am in the same position myself. I feel your pain, it's so difficult. I miss the old/healthy him so much. Are things any better with you?
