PSU needs the right connections to power a decent Gpu.

A 7750 is your best bet I'd say with those Specs

It's more than enough to cover the minimum so? Would you have any idea if I'll need to get any specific connections? I assume it's compatible with the mobo and PSU? Sorry not very experienced in this stuff bar a little upgrading on RAM and that.

I'm not sure will it run well with your processor. I just looked it up, its pretty bad!

I was running the Dayz mod for ARMA2 on low setting with a little lag. But the standalone is far more streamlined and apparently runs far far better than the mod so I had hope I could it run on low decently.

Cool just wanted to get an idea of your expectations. And actual ability of your pc as of now.

Seen a guy on adverts selling a 7850 2gb for 140e including a 450w power supply. Talk him down.

    Or pick up a 560ti for 70-80 and get a 4-500w PSU

Just another option. Both of these cards will be a step up. Costing you around 100-120e

I really wouldn't bother. A Pentium D is just awful, your one doesn't even meet the minimum specifications by a large shot. That board doesn't even support the Core 2 line, which would have been something. 9500GT isn't much better, but all in all, its just not worth putting money into really, you'd be wasting your time, even with a €500 graphics card you'd still be getting about 20fps with that processor. Pairing a 7850 with a low end Pentium D is almost obscene.

He stated he does not mind playing on low. And money is an issue.

Either way he will have a card and a PSU . So if he decided to build a new rig he can use them.

I don't think you realize how bad that processor is!

Oh I do, but to replace the CPU is a complete new pc job.

Worst case scenario, he puts in New Gpu and PSU , game runs on low like His
Arma2 did. And down the line he can get the new components and use the PSU and Gpu in it.

But the game won't run any better than it already was, because the CPU is a bottleneck. The minimum requirement for DayZ standalone is a CPU about 50% faster than a low end Pentium D. It would be a total waste of money that would show zero improvement.

These days you could pick up an E8400 based Dell Optiplex for around 80 euro, add a cheap card like a 70 euro 7750 and for 150 you're capable of playing the game at a decent level as well as most other modern games if you choose.

I have used an E8400, 3GB ram and 7750 combo until recently enough in a 2nd machine, BF3 single player for example ran at high settings fine.
