Trickiling noise from hot water cylinder

    Hi guys,

I live in a standard layout 3 bed semi. This means that our hotpress with the cylinder is right beside our bedroom. I've noticed that when the heating kicks in, there is quite an audible trickle, or dripping noise coming from within the cylinder. My boiler pressure is ok, and steady. I don't see any discolouration in my hot water at the taps.

    Any ideas?

I had to replace my cylinder just before Christmas due to a split coil. It was causing "pitching" in the expansion tank.

How I noticed it in the first place was that the expansion tank overflow pipe under the fascia board at the back of the house was gushing out onto the path whenever the heating was on.

I didn't hear any noises from the cylinder though.

Just to share my recent experience of cylinder problems! Hopefully your problem isn't as expensive as mine was!

How much was a new cylinder and install?

180 for the cylinder +100 labour. Not massively expensive but a pain just before Christmas.

Just turned off all my rads, topped off the pressure......and the pump seemed to move whatever it was along. Quiet as a peach now:)
